Gorgeous Holiday Makeup Ideas

The holiday season is upon us, and I know most of you guys are shopping for a new outfit to wear to all your Christmas parties, (at least I am).  After you find your perfect outfit the next thing you’re going to be looking for is, gorgeous holiday makeup ideas to go with that perfect outfit.

Last year at this time, I created a glam glitter makeup with cut crease on my beautiful Model Jess. You can check it out here. This year I decided to do a gorgeous smoky holiday makeup for you guys. I find smoky eyes give you more drama and on top of that, it’s pretty and sexy.

There is no need for you to fear smoky eye makeup for your next Christmas parties.

I generally start with the eyes. It’s easy for me that way, I don’t have to worry about the fallout under my eyes, easy, breezy! I can just wipe it out and apply foundation. Obviously, you can start with the foundation and then do your eyes later. There is no right or wrong way how you want to start applying your makeup.

Shall we begin, oh yes please!

Eyes

What you need to do to create this look.

  • I’m starting with applying SMASHBOX 24 hours photo finish eyeshadow primer all over my eyelids all the way to my brow bone.
  • Taking the Morocco eyeshadow from THE NUBIAN BY JUVIA’S palette and applying it on the entire lid.
  • From the same palette, I used Kenya eyeshadow. Loaded it onto medium size flat brush and applied it to the outer corner of the eyes.
  • Taking the same color again and this time taking a pencil brush and applied it into the crease of the eyes and just above it, blending it into Morocco on the lid.
  • Then I swept the Kenya eyeshadow under the eyes from the outer edges into the inner corner of the eye.
  • Taking the same pencil brush we used, this time I’m loading it with Black plum eyeshadow by BOBBI BROWN and applied it to your crease and lower lash line. Then take your blending brush to blend it all out.
  • For the next step, I really want my eyelids to be super black, so I took the BOBBI BROWN  Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner and applied it all over my lids, then taking my blender brush and blending the gel eyeliner on to Black Plum eyeshadow on the crease.
  • Taking the same gel eyeliner with a pencil brush I applied it on my lower lash line and blending it out.
  • Repeating the last two steps, but this time instead of using the gel liner, I used BOBBI BROWN eyeshadow Caviar
  • I wanted to have a little bit of a shimmer to the lids, so I added BOBBI BROWN Black Charcoal Matallic eyeshadow
  • The last step, mascara & false lashes:)

Face

Before you start with foundation, you probably heard this a hundred times, that you have to prepare your skin foundation. I’m using BECCA‘s Even-Matte Poleless Priming Perfecter, to control my oily skin and also MAKE UP FOR EVER Step 1 Skin Equalizer. I usually use this equalizer, to correct any dark spots I have on my face, especially under my eyes and around my mouth. I understand everybody has different problems with their skin. So I tryed to find something that works best for you. Once you’re done prepping your face for foundation, we can move to the next step. Foundation.

Today I’m actually trying a new foundation for the first time. I heard great reviews about it,  so I thought I’d give it a try. I’m going to be using BECCA skin love weightless blur foundation. One of the things I like about this foundation is it comes in a range of shade. I typically have a hard time finding my shade. Found mine right away 🤗🤗🤗.

It has a medium coverage, depending on how you apply it. It doesn’t have a complete Matt finish but is very smooth.

As for wear time, it lasted all day (about 6-8). My face didn’t cake up or grease up by the end of the day. This is definitely my new love when it comes to foundation. I applied the foundation all over my face

Next contouring. Being able to contour is a very useful skill. I’m sure you know this, but I’m just going to say it anyway. Contouring is the art of using light and dark to enhance certain features and play down others.  I mention this before in my previous blogs, I don’t use contour kits to contour my face. I use eyeshadow. The reason why I use eyeshadow to contour some parts of my face is that I cannot find a darker shade to contour my face. One of the things my teacher taught us, is, use what you have, and that’s exactly what I have done.

Once you’re happy with how your contour looks like, we can move to the cheeks.  For my cheeks I’ve used three different blushes, obviously, you don’t have to do this. I have used MUD pumpkin, bubblegum & Garnet.

For my highlighter I use NARS Palm beach highlighter.

Last but not least – lips

I applied MAC lipstick honey flower.

I have created two looks for you guys, well kind of. The first look I’m wearing is nude lipstick which is MAC Honeyflower lipstick.

The second look, I change the lipstick to red using MUD lucky satin lipstick. I didn’t stop there, I also added FENTY BEAUTY Trophy Wife highlighter.

That’s it, all done. I hope you guys like this look.

Please comment below and let me know what you’ll be wearing for your upcoming Christmas parties.

XOXO

Rachel
